I went yesterday to the Supermarket again. And again I watched as older people of limited means were stuck between choosing between food they could afford and food they actually needed. This tears my heart out to see an elderly lady buying 6 boxes of individual cake so that she has something to eat for 6 days because it is on sale and cost less than a couple of cans of beans,

But the very fact that this is happening brings unmitigated joy to the hearts of the Stupid Five. Flunky and Krygowski get a nice warm inner feeling to know this is happening. This is what they are. Slocumb simply doesn't care. Scharf figures that since they aren't voters there's no reason for him to care and Liebermann is entirely neutral.

You doubt me? All you have to do is read the postings when I mentioned this sort of thing before. Not one of these people is worth a plug nickel.

But Liebermann is getting his come uppance. Cancer is growing and he no longer has the ability to fight it off again.

Slocumb has reached the end of his lifespan in Thailand.

Flunky never cared for anyone and now nobody cares for him.

Exactly what worse could happen to Krygowski than being himself?

Scharf is about to run out of money and perhaps out of a place to stay as well. The last rainstorm was a category 2 and caused massive damage. The next two days will be category 2 followed by a category 3 and then category 1 for the rest of the week.

The things that the Democrats let go for years have come home to roost. Let's see if there's anything left of Northern California after that.

With any luck they will have made their positions known and will face their own positions in the community. Frank, np doubt having been a college teacher will have had some standing in the community. But with his support of the Democrat election fraud the what Biden has done to this country that will have very rapidly dispursed.

Hey Tommy! and it was just yesterday that you were bemoaning the fact
that there were so many non-bicycle topics posted to RBT.

And there you go, posting non bicycle topics.

Imagine that Frank believes me in misery with a sum worth of a million and a half dollars and no bills and many bicycles to play with and miles of riding and miles of climbing like a man half of my age. Am I angry, certainly and anyone that isn't after the election fraud of the Democrats, after the purposeful deaths from covid-19 and the vaccines and false claims of man-made climate change and our government breaking the Constitution into tiny pieces should be angry. I would ask why Frank isn't angry, but I know the answer - he is pleased with EVERYTHING that has happened. Remember - his investments didn't lose any money or so he has said.

Emigrate.

Unlikely to happen for him. Medicare doesn't work outside the U.S. and
countries that have national health care don't want new senior citizens
that are the biggest consumers of medical care. He could still collect
Social Security even if he lived outside the U.S..

The biggest issue for him right now is a lack of financial resources and
poor money management skills. Spending unwisely, and then complaining
about making poor choices, is not going to be fixed by moving to another
country, many of which have higher costs than the U.S..

What would make sense for him is to cash out of his Bay Area house as
soon as possible since it is falling in value. A young couple with
children would be thrilled to have the opportunity to buy a starter
home. He could move to some other part of the U.S. where his remaining
money would last longer. Nevada has no state income tax, and housing
costs are lower, though property taxes are higher. There are areas of
California that are much less expensive and a recent law allows you to
retain your Prop 13 valuation when you buy a new house.

Tom, I believe you are in misery because you continually tell us so!
There is nobody on this forum who complains about life more than you do
- no one even close!

I know that believing your posts is usually a mistake, but I do think
you're being honest in expressing your misery.

Again (agreeing with Mr. Scharf), you should move out of that hellhole.
I understand the draw of family; it's one of the reasons I live where I
do. But being an hour away from family is not bad, and even that
distance would probably get you into a place where you'll be a little
less miserable.

.
.
.

OTOH, I know a nice fable, too long to type, where two separate
travelers ask an old man what the people in the nearby town are like.
Before answering, the man asks each what the people were like where they
came from. He gets very different responses, one very positive, the
other very negative.

He then tells each that they will find the local people are very much
the same as the people where they came from.

Nope. I got very busy near the end the year and didn't have time to
read RBT. The last week was spent dealing with storm related problems
at various friends houses. Also, utility (PG&E) power and Comcast
(Xfinity) internet were down and out from Weds to Fri. Unfortunately,
I may have done some damage to the ligaments in my right knee, which
will probably slow me down for a time. I'll probably be spending some
quality time at home on the computer correcting Tom's mistakes.

I'm now about 600 messages behind in reading RBT and will likely never
catch up. In honor of the new year, I plan to read a few interesting
sub-sub-sub-sub threads, mark the remaining articles as read, and
effectively start over, in a few days.

No one believes that. In one post he's complaining about losing a
fortune, in another post he's claiming he's well-off. In another post
he's complaining about the price of meat.

In the UK he would be complaining that they don't speak proper English
and that they drive on the wrong side of the road.

In Canada he would be complaining about everything having to be in both
English and French.

It would be quite amusing to imagine him in Mexico.

The big issue is the government aid that he is now receiving that he
would not be entitled to in other countries, especially health care.

A lot of limited-income seniors in the Bay Area do move to less
expensive, less congested, areas of California, "cashing out" of their
real estate that has soared in value, buying a much less expensive
place, and using the extra cash to enjoy their retirement years. But I
have had neighbors (and still do) that are house-rich and cash poor but
that have no desire to cash out and move somewhere less expensive.

Thank you for the generous offer, but I don't think your services will
be needed. So far, no coats have been ruined during RBT discussions
and I don't expect any will be ruined in the future.

Please note that I've been rather scarce in RBT for the last 3 or so
weeks and absent for the last week. Yet, the frequency of off topic
and violence oriented postings remain unchanged and possibly
increased. That suggests that my services to RBT, by attempting to
keep Tom honest, have been beneficial.

Can't blame those who left. The only bicycle content consistently posted on RBT is by Tom -- and invariably the same five jerks shout him down, and turn every thread into a sewer. Their excuse is that they enjoy hounding people and badgering their every utterance. Nope. You for one haven't filtered anyone out, Scharfie. You're always commenting on what Tom and I do, as does Krygowski who has repeatedly claimed not to read my posts. Personally, I don't know how I can be blunter than to tell you and the rest of the RBT Scum to fuck out of my threads, which I've done repeatedly.
